The petite woman whispered an incantation, casting a simple warming charm upon with a minute flick of her wand to protect herself from the frigid winds of the north. Jon eyed the intricately carved stick in her hand warily then turned his gaze to the snow covered lands beyond the wall, sucking in a ragged breath as he did so. As much as the thought of making her leave pained him, she had to go before she got caught up in their war. What he planned to say next would hurt them both, but he was willing to do whatever necessary to keep her safe. If she died, it would kill him.
“Go home, Hermione. Go home to your world.”
“No. I want to stay here, with you. There is nothing left there for me anymore.”
“You don’t belong here sorceress! And there’s nothing for you here either!”
“Jon— Jon look at me.”
He easily ignored her request. Looking into her eyes and seeing the hurt written all over her beautiful face was the last the he wanted to do at the moment. He didn’t want to see the damage his sharp words had done to the woman he loved.
“I can’t go back, not now.”
Her voice broke and he didn’t have to turn around to know that she was crying.
“I love you.”
Jon’s heart twisted painfully and he could hardly breathe at her admission. He wanted very badly to take her in his arms and kiss her, show her that he loved her too. But he clenched his jaw and pressed on. He would make sure she was safe and that’s what mattered.
“Winter is coming. Leave before it does.”
A choked sob escaped her lips and then a sudden, loud crack that marked the witch’s coming and going rang through the icy air.
She was gone, and with her, his heart.
The drabble was totally unplanned/not beta’d but I hope you like it. I love skyping (aka gossiping and talking smack about annoying people) with you and reading your hilarious tweets. You’re such a fun, easy-to-talk-to girl who makes everyone laugh. Thank you for being such an awesome friend!! <333
